Voice actor Bill Farmer, best known as the voice of "Goofy"–just one of the many, many characters he voices–was interviewed at the recent "Armageddon Expo," a sci-fi/comics/games/animation convention held in Australia,

During the interview, Bill demonstrates his talents and impressive range; talks about the voiceover profession and how he develops new character voices; but perhaps more important, offers valuable advice to voice actors who would like to follow in his footsteps...

ABC Online (blog): "He was taught some of the craft by the great Daws Butler...He taught Bill that the silly voices were secondary to the acting. So though Bill can do an amazing array of voices, he thinks it's just as important to understand the character and the scene he's in."

Even Warren Buffett Is Getting Into the Voiceover Act Now...No...Seriously... | MediaPost Publications | Sirenetta Leoni Inside Voiceover—Information + Insights On Voice Acting | Scoop.it
Movie stars I get; at least they're actors, but Warren Buffett..? No one can beat him at investing; and children (and their parents) could stand to be better educated about money, that's for sure, but as far as keeping kids engaged and entertained for 22 minutes? THAT is a whole different ball game...sigh...

Media Post: "The Hub, the fledgling kids/family network from Discovery and Hasbro, will debut a limited series featuring an animated Warren Buffett, who also provides the voiceover... As to Buffett's compensation, a Hub representative said that is a matter between Buffett and the production company..."

A visit with legendary voice actor, Daws Butler | Video

A visit with legendary voice actor, Daws Butler | Video | Sirenetta Leoni Inside Voiceover—Information + Insights On Voice Acting | Scoop.it
In this 1986 video---very quaint by 2011 standards---Daws Butler gives a 'tour' of the backyard workshop/studio where he taught voiceover classes and produced demos for students. It's hard to reconcile this elderly, soft-spoken gentleman with all the big, boisterous, energetic characters that he voiced for Hanna Barbera, but you can catch glimpses of his genius as he discusses and demonstrates some of his creative teaching methods.

From Bob Souer's Voiceover Boblog: "April 3, 1986 is the date of this video visit with Daws Butler. My thanks to my friend Mike Sommer for posting the link to this ..."

Schwarzenegger Saves San Francisco From Rampaging Robots: ‘The Governator’ Trailer Has Landed...With Larry King? | Hollywood Hiccups | Sirenetta Leoni Inside Voiceover—Information + Insights On Voice Acting | Scoop.it
AH-nult saves SF from robots, but as usual, is out-acted by the robots. Guest voiceover cameo by Larry King (also out-emoted by the robots).

Gotta say I'm kind of missing the old days when people who retired took up golf instead of voice acting in animated series...

Hollywood Hiccup: "Arnold Schwarzenegger who is making his Hollywood comeback post California Governor gig and Stan Lee have announced that The Governator is for an animated series and a comic book and NOW it’s being eyed for a 3D feature film. Now that’s a comeback!"

Nickelodeon commits to 450 new cartoon episodes. Will this translate into animation voiceover jobs for more voice actors? |New York Daily News

Nickelodeon commits to 450 new cartoon episodes. Will this translate into animation voiceover jobs for more voice actors? |New York Daily News | Sirenetta Leoni Inside Voiceover—Information + Insights On Voice Acting | Scoop.it
Nickelodeon brings back "Saturday morning cartoons" in a big way. Their recently announced jam-packed animation production schedule should translate into lots more opportunities for animation voice actors, too. Contrary to conventional wisdom, most animation directors are open to working with new talent, as long as it's really, really, really good new talent...In other words, why should they take a chance on you when they can hire a proven, reliable talent? You've got to give them a reason to hire you by cutting through with an audition that's strong, compelling and original enough to grab their attention.

NY Daily News: "Nickelodeon will roll out nearly 200 episodes of new animated programming on Saturday mornings in 2012, as part of a larger, three-year commitment to the genre. By the time the three years is up, Nickelodeon will have aired an unprecedented 450 episodes of new animation.
'The stuff that lasts the longest and probably appeals to the broadest audience, really still is animation and always was," says Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon and the MTVN Kids and Family Group. "Even things like 'Seinfeld' come and go and 'SpongeBob' hangs around.'..."

The Top 10 Voice Actors in Classic Disney Films Behind The Voice Actors

The Top 10 Voice Actors in Classic Disney Films Behind The Voice Actors | Sirenetta Leoni Inside Voiceover—Information + Insights On Voice Acting | Scoop.it
A well-deserved homage to the great voice actors behind many of the most beloved characters in the classic Disney films many of us grew up with, like "Jungle Book," "Sleeping Beauty" and "Winnie the Pooh." In fact, it's impossible to think of "Pooh" without hearing Sterling Holloway's voice, which is why I probably would have put him in the #1 on my list, even though the amazing Verna Felton has always been one of my favorite character actors.

Btw with much being made of celebrities vs. non-celebrities in animation films nowadays, it should be noted that many of these character actors, like Pat Buttram, and Felton and Holloway, were as well-known for their as on-camera work. And the incomparable Phil Harris was actually best known as a band leader, who seemed to be more at home hanging out with his Rat Pack buddies, like Dean Martin, than the Mouse!
